“The trip of a lifetime”

By

Okay, this post feels like I’m cheating a little bit but who cares. One thing I kept thinking about while I was on our first trip was,

“More people, especially Americans, need to know about all there is to see, learn, eat and do in this fabulous country.”

Literally everywhere I went I thought this.

I’m sort of an enthusiastic person anyway, so I’m pretty sure I annoyed a lot of people on the cruise, especially my husband. But honestly, IT’S ALL SO SO GREAT YOU HAVE TO GO!!

(Okay, that’s it for the ALLCAPS now.)

I talked about the trip with everyone, think I’ve won some converts, shared photos online and tagged a bunch of accounts, but still thought I could do more, so a few months after we returned from our second trip, I wrote a LinkedIn post (tagging the travel agency Fouad (our now-Egyptologist-friend and extremely excellent Guide) was involved with and a fantastic boutique hotel in Fayoum, Lazib Inn) which, to date, has more than 2,000 views so that’s pretty good even though it’s supposed to be business-related and I’m not in the travel industry.

(But I figured tagging the travel agency and Lazib Inn had it covered.)

Here’s the post:

They don’t call it the “Trip of a Lifetime” for nothing.

For anyone looking to plan a different type of getaway (with your family, friends, or a group) I’m pleased to share info on Skylink Travel Egypt’s custom tours, packages, and dark sky stargazing expeditions.

Since we just returned from our second trip to Egypt to visit more of this ancient culture’s incredible places, I wanted to let others know of the extraordinary sites you can explore with a professional program guide / Egyptologist.

We’ve done most of the below 👇, 𝐬𝐨 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐦𝐞 with any questions & for contact info (the USD is incredibly strong in Egypt now so it’s a very affordable trip you’ll remember forever – or, if you’re like us – you’ll just plan on returning again and again).

𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬:

(Rates are flexible, they work with your budget, Basic, Premium, Ultra-Premium includes either 4-star, 4.5 star or 5-star hotels (based on hotels and meal packages)

Giza Plateau, Pyramids and the Sphinx (4 or 5-day): plus visit Cairo’s incredible Khan El-Khalili Bazaar, ancient mosques and the Citadel, tour the Egyptian Museum, the Museum of Egyptian Civilization & the spectacular new Grand Egyptian Museum (aka the Gem)

Saqqara: Add on 1 or 2 more days to explore Saqqara, home to Egypt’s oldest pyramid, the Step Pyramid of Djoser, see the ancient Pyramid Texts in the tombs of Unas & Pepy I, climb hundreds of feet down into the Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid if you’re adventurous (and fit)

Luxor, Valley of the Kings: (3-days) Float above the Valley of the Kings in a hot air balloon, visit the Karnak Temple, get lost in the wonders of the Luxor Temple at Night, then make an in-person visit to the Valley of the Kings, seeing King’s Tut Tomb & others in this ancient necropolis

Desert Dark Sky Stargazing: Spend an evening under the stars in the desert at Fayoum, visit the famous local pottery school for handmade pottery and stay a couple of nights at the one-of-a-kind Lazib Inn Resort & Spa in Tunis, Fayoum

Red Sea Coral Reef Excursion (2-3 days): Drive from Cairo to the Red Sea to visit any one of hundreds of breathtaking resorts on the Red Sea, see colors, coral and fish you’ve never seen before while snorkeling on the Red Sea

Fossils and Desert Expeditions (2 days): Western Desert, White Desert, sandboarding, off-roading it to see what is likely the world’s oldest paved road on the way to the ancient, remote Qasr El Sagha temple, and 40 million year old whale fossils (when whales still walked on land) at Wadi Al Hitan

Alexandria Exploration: Visit the legendary Library of Alexandria, explore Ancient Egypt’s Mediterranean Trade Routes and the Lighthouse of Alexandria (Pharos), one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World

Consider a 3- or 5-day Nile cruise to visit gorgeous Aswan (Philae Temple, Abu Simbel, Cararact Hotel, Aswan Dam), Kom Ombo, Edfu’s Temple of Horus, and the magnificent Dendara Temple at Qena

Have fun!
